Classical Dutch painter Garry Kooy has been associated with the ecological movement in the Dominican Republic for more than 20 years through educational and informational programs. Garry believes that he can leverage his talent as a classical painter to bring even more value to these efforts. The environmental foundation "SOMONCA, INC". a Dominican non-profit which Garry helped to found, has the knowledge and materials to make the most important projects a reality. But the Foundation does not have the financial backing to accomplish these important projects. Garry plans to donate funds from every painting sale to a project to clean up one of the dirtiest rivers in the Dominican Republic. The contaminated Sosua River feeds into the Atlantic Ocean in Sosua Bay and is destroying all the coral reefs for more than 10,000 Ha. Read more.
